Recipe: Pasta with Broccoli Rabe, Oregano and Lemon

A little spice, a little sour, and packing tons of flavor, this is one pasta recipe you’ll want to keep on hand to impress!


  • Sea salt/kosher salt and black pepper
  • 3/4 Pounds of a small pasta, e.g. shells, penne, fusilli, farfalle, etc.
  • 1 bunch of broccoli rabe, trimmed and cut into 1 ½ inch pieces
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves of garlic, sliced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon oregano leaves (for topping/serving)
  • 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice (for topping/serving)


  1. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions.
  2. Add the broccoli rabe to the pot 4 minutes before the pasta finishes cooking.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat oil, garlic, and pepper flakes over medium heat until the garlic begins to sizzle, about two minutes.
  4. Drain pasta and broccoli rabe and return them to the pot. Add the oil mixture and toss them together.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste
  6. To serve, sprinkle lemon juice and oregano on top.
